GDPR needn't be a nightmare
Compliance is all the rage, and rightly so. Organisations need to fulfil their legal and ethical obligations to their employees, shareholders and to the communities in which they operate. From 25th May 2018 all those who collect and use personal data from any source within the EU, will need to ensure they operate in line with new European legislation. eugdpr.org describes the change as: "The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was designed to harmonise data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organisations across the region approach data privacy". There are many sources on the web, which summarise the new requirements and this article is not about creating yet another list. Whilst GDPR will involve us all doing things differently, it is a positive development and will be well worth the effort.
